Henna Cone

Cones are usually used to deliver the henna paste accurately and easily. Many henna books and kits come with ready-filled henna cones or you can make your own to use with the henna that you prepare.

When holding the cone, keep you hand relaxed; you need to have control of the movement of the cone without squirting the henna all over the place! When you need the most control, you can hold the cone in both hands but, generally, it is held in one hand. Given that the heel of your hand could smudge the henna that you've already applied, you may have to change the way you hold the cone as you work.

Generally, you will hold the cone in one hand close to the tip. Wrap the rest of the cone over the back of your fingers and hold it gently under your little finger.

Sometimes you might need to work backwards. In that case, you need to hold the cone in the opposite direction, still wrapping the excess around your fingers and under your hand.

Alternatively, you can work upside down. This will still allow you to work left to right but keep the heel of your hand away from the already applied areas.

For more control, you can hold the cone in two hands. Hold the cone at the very end, pushing the henna paste forward. Grip and control the tip of the cone with your other hand (your writing hand). Here, you are controlling the direction of the tip with one hand and the supply of henna paste with the other.
