Black HennaBlack henna is henna powder mixed with p-phenylenediamine (PPD). This is a chemical commonly used in black hair dye. This gives the henna and the resulting body art a much darker colour. Many people -- particularly men -- prefer to have darker mehndi as it looks more like a permanent tattoo. The drying time for black henna is also greatly reduced. Unfortunately, the chemical component of black henna is a toxin and, unlike normal henna, can cause severe reactions. Many people (especially children) have suffered allergic reactions and even severe skin burns from having black henna temporary tattoos. In fact, black henna is banned in some countries. There are many other options available for realistic-looking temporary tattoos; black henna is by no means the only choice. If you really want a realistic tattoo you could even consider getting the real thing.
